- Expectations for Discovering Fair Trade Policy Improvements from a Youth Perspective -
The Korea Fair Trade Commission (Chairman Han Ki-jung, hereinafter referred to as the "KFTC") held an inauguration ceremony for the 2nd 2030 Advisory Group (hereinafter referred to as the "Advisory Group") on the 14th at the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency at 10 a.m. The Advisory Group is tasked with providing policy advice from the perspective of young people. At the ceremony, Chairman Han Ki-jung awarded appointment certificates to the members and encouraged them to actively identify areas for improvement in fair trade policies.
The 2nd Advisory Group consists of 21 young members, including 12 who have been reappointed from the 1st Advisory Group and 9 newly selected members through an open recruitment process. The group is divided into three subcommittees—Consumer, Business Transactions, and Competition—and will be active for one year. Their main activities include reviewing KFTC policies, conveying the opinions of young people, and developing effective promotional strategies. Notably, this year's Advisory Group includes young professionals from diverse fields, such as startup founders and consumer affairs researchers, who are expected to provide fresh and dynamic insights into all aspects of fair trade policies.
In his welcome speech, Chairman Han Ki-jung stated, “Amid high economic uncertainties both domestically and internationally, the younger generation faces various challenges. The KFTC is committed to protecting the rights and interests of young people and supporting their economic activities in multiple ways.” He added, “I expect that the Advisory Group members will play a key role in shaping fair trade policies that support the development of the younger generation.”
Meanwhile, Jo Geon-hee, the Youth Policy Advisor and the newly appointed head of the Advisory Group, shared his thoughts, saying, “Just as the 1st 2030 Advisory Group worked to explore the future direction of fair trade policies from a youth perspective and provided valuable insights, the 2nd Advisory Group will strive to develop more in-depth discussions and practical proposals that contribute to fair trade policies young people can truly relate to.”
