by walk around 2025. 4. 22.

On April 1, 2025, the 24th annual Fair Trade Day ceremony was held at KBIZ Hall in Seoul.

This event, established by major economic organizations such as the Korea Federation of SMEs and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, commemorates the enforcement date of Korea’s Fair Trade Act and has been held every year since 2002 with the support of the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC).

About 130 participants attended, including members of the National Assembly, KFTC Chairman Han Ki-jeong, and representatives from major economic bodies. A total of 28 individuals who made significant contributions to promoting fair competition received government awards. Notably, two lawyers were awarded the Order of Service Merit (Dongbaek Medal), and other recipients included university professors and corporate executives who were recognized with various national medals and citations from the President, Prime Minister, and KFTC Chair.

In his commemorative speech, Chairman Han emphasized that fair competition has evolved from mere regulation to a culture of voluntary compliance within the private sector. He stated that this year’s policies will focus especially on revitalizing the livelihood economy and laying the groundwork for future growth through fair trade.

Key policy goals include cracking down on unfair practices such as cost-shifting in promotional events and the evasion of the price indexation system, protecting SMEs and small business owners, improving consumer safety in platform services, and fostering a competitive, innovative market environment.
