The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC, Chairman Han Ki-jeong, hereinafter “KFTC”) held the Agency Sector Agreement Evaluation Committee and finalized the results of the 2024 Agency Sector Fair Trade Agreement Implementation Evaluation. This deliberation was based on Article 12-2 of the Act on Fair Transactions in Agency Transactions.
The fair trade agreement implementation evaluation in the agency sector was introduced in 2019 and has been conducted annually since 2020. Its purpose is to support the faithful implementation of agreements voluntarily concluded between suppliers and agencies to ensure compliance with fair trade laws and foster mutual growth.
The KFTC comprehensively evaluates suppliers who apply for the agreement implementation evaluation based on: ① fairness of contracts, ② efforts to prevent legal violations, ③ support for win–win cooperation, ④ deductions for legal violations, and ⑤ agency satisfaction. Outstanding companies receive benefits based on their results.
This year, 13 suppliers that entered into agreements in 2024 were evaluated. As a result, Maeil Dairies was selected as the sole “Best Company,” Namyang Dairy Products, E-Land World, and CJ CheilJedang as “Excellent Companies,” and Orion and LG Household & Health Care as “Good Companies.”
Maeil Dairies, which received the “Best Company” designation, was highly praised for: ▲establishing a systematic system for fair contract signing and preemptive prevention of legal violations, ▲supporting agencies’ sales growth through measures such as reducing supply prices and covering promotional costs, and ▲operating mutual growth programs including the creation of a win–win fund and scholarships for agency owners’ children. Maeil Dairies has received the “Best” rating for five consecutive years since the evaluation began in 2020.
Among the “Excellent Companies,” Namyang Dairy Products was recognized for supporting promotional costs through supply price reductions and promotional material assistance; E-Land World for contributing to agency sales by transferring online shopping mall orders to agencies; and CJ CheilJedang for establishing a co-prosperity fund to support agencies.
Meanwhile, companies rated “Good” or higher will receive commendations from the KFTC Chair. Additionally, those rated “Best” or “Excellent” will benefit from exemptions from agency law ex officio investigations for a set period.
