Government Agencies Explore Ways to Minimize Consumer Damage from Travel Products on TMON and Wemakeprice(2024.8.27)

On Tuesday, August 27, in the afternoon, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Fair Trade Commission, and the Financial Services Commission held a joint meeting with related agencies to hear opinions from the travel and finance industries on minimizing consumer damage related to travel products sold on TMON and Wemakeprice.

 

Attendees of the meeting included representatives from travel agencies, credit card companies, and electronic payment service providers (PG companies), as well as officials from the Financial Supervisory Service and the Korea Consumer Agency.

 

<Request for cooperation from industries to quickly compensate affected consumers>

 

Through this meeting, the government plans to listen to the opinions of travel agencies, credit card companies, and PG companies on ways to share the burden of consumer damage from travel products, and will request cooperation from various industries to promptly compensate affected consumers. Additionally, the Korea Consumer Agency has been urged to expedite the collective dispute mediation process regarding 'travel products,' and the government will closely cooperate with related agencies to minimize consumer damage.
