First Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance Kim Byung-hwan presided over the 3rd Pan-Ministry Platform Policy Consultative Group and Platform Companies Meeting at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 14:00 on August 29 (Tue) to discuss the achievements of implementing platform self-regulation and future plans.

Platform companies who attended the meeting introduced the self-regulatory measures and future plans. Various measures were discussed, including the launch of its own self-regulatory committee (Naver), advancement of AI ethics policies through self-checklists (Kakao), free extension of packaging brokerage fees (Cupang), introduction of review operation policies reflecting international standards (Elegant Brothers), establishment of a transparency center on product and service policies (Google), active support for dispute resolution between users (carrot market), and reorganization of product alignment standards (Yanolja). In order to create an innovative and fair online platform ecosystem, companies said they will continue to actively participate in platform self-regulation to create results.

In the subsequent cross-ministerial platform policy consultative body, the performance of each division of the platform autonomous organization, future operation plans, and ways to upgrade the operation of autonomous organizations were discussed. In particular, in order to upgrade the operation of autonomous organizations, we plan to establish a legal basis for autonomous organizations, promote a cross-ministerial platform survey, and support self-regulatory implementation inspection. In the future, the government plans to respond strictly to the problem of platform monopoly, while actively supporting the spread of self-regulatory results in the relationship between the platform, companies, and consumers.
