Fair Trade Commission Charges 'Style V' to Prosecution

by walk around 2024. 1. 15.

- Accusation of non-compliance after accepting the local government's recommendation for correction due to delay in refunding the price

The Fair Trade Commission decided to file a complaint with the prosecution against Style V, which operates an Internet shopping mall, for failing to properly carry out the refund of money and handling complaints due to the withdrawal of the subscription from the Daejeon Yuseong-gu Office and accepting the recommendation.

* [Penalty] imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine of not more than 100 million won (Article 40, Subparagraph 2 of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc.)

Style V did not supply products to consumers who paid for products such as ramen, cosmetics, and electronic devices at low prices through its Cyber Mall Style V (http://www.stylev.co.kr ), and accepted it* after receiving a correction recommendation from the Yuseong-gu Office, which has jurisdiction over the location of the workplace, for reasons such as refunding money and neglecting the lack of manpower and facilities necessary for handling consumer complaints.

* If a person who has received a corrective recommendation accepts the recommendation, it is deemed to have ordered corrective action (Article 31, Paragraph 3 of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc.)

However, Style V did not implement the recommendations of the Yuseong-gu Office within the implementation deadline. As a result, consumers experienced property damage such as not receiving products and not receiving refunds of product prices, and the Fair Trade Commission decided to file a prosecution complaint to strictly punish Style V's misconduct.

It is expected that by detecting operators who fail to comply with corrective action orders and filing a complaint with the prosecution, violators of the law will be encouraged to faithfully implement corrective recommendations and corrective orders, and investigations and dispositions by the Fair Trade Commission and local governments will be carried out more effectively.

In the future, the Fair Trade Commission plans to work closely with local governments and other related organizations to strictly respond to violations of corrective recommendations and corrective action orders.
